A laminated veneer lumber (LVL) frame house which uses water to provide thermal mass in walls will be unveiled at the Ecobuild exhibition in London.

The ECO2H2OUSE, developed by ECO2BUILD, is designed for architects to create their own flexible designs and meet Passivhaus energy standards.

Water is stored in tanks in ceilings and distributed according to the thermal model of the individual building, improving a building’s ability to absorb passive solar gain but also providing a thermal buffer during high temperatures.

The concept will be developed to move the water around the building, possibly into underground storage tanks.
