John Brash has supplied its western red cedar cladding for the new Exmouth Lifeboat Station, owned by the Royal National Lifeboats Institution (RNLI).
The cladding – specified because of its appearance and durability in coastal conditions – is to be used for the station souvenir shop and on the underside of the building’s roof
The station is the town’s second and will be used to house several hi-tech lifeboats and its 25 strong crew.
The RNLI now uses western red cedar in many of its refurbishments throughout the UK because of these properties.
Tim Mock, coxswain of the lifeboat station, said: “The official opening for the station is planned for early June and we used western red cedar extensively because it weathers well to a nice silvery finish.
“It is low maintenance in harsh environments, which is great when we have a fair number of gales to contend with.”
