Anti-dumping duties on okoume-faced plywood entering the EU are to expire in November, according to the UK Timber Trade Federation (TTF).

The duties were originally imposed in 2004 to protect European producers from cheap Chinese okoume-faced products entering the EU.

Anti-dumping duties expire after five years unless a review shows that ending the measure would cause further injury to producers.

European plywood producers have until August 13 to lodge a request for an expiry review.

Many Chinese producers used different face veneers after the regulation came into force. Latterly, the level of Chinese plywood exports has fallen, with exports to all markets declining dramatically in the first quarter to 959,600m³ (down 41% by volume) compared to a year ago.
