The principal behind SSP Sideloaders, which billed itself as the only British-owned diesel sideloader manufacturer in the UK, has said the company has been liquidated.

Paul Hull, who was managing director, would only say the company, which had traded in several forms for 25 years, most recently at Batley, West Yorkshire, had been liquidated and declined to make further comment.

There was no listing at that time of insolvency proceedings at Companies House.

Some items formerly used by the company were due to be auctioned in Ossett on Monday by CW Harrison & Son, which holds all sales under instructions from liquidators, the Insolvency Service and similar sources. Lots include a Lancer lift sideloader, electric fork lift truck and some manufacturing plant.

SSP launched the FT range of trucks for the UK timber trade in 2005, a four-tonne version of which was operating at Howarth Timber in Mansfield.
