Greenpeace now cites Brazil’s cattle industry as the biggest cause of deforestation in the Amazon and points the finger at several UK high street names for driving the demand for beef and leather.
The environmental NGO is calling on the Brazilian government to introduce an immediate moratorium on further deforestation for cattle ranching and to commit to zero deforestation in the Amazon by 2015.
