Setra has appointed a new president and CEO in a move designed to help turn round the company’s fortunes.

The appointment of Börje Bengtsson by the Setra Board on June 11 comes with a mandate to secure long-term profitable business.

Former president and CEO Kent Torwald said he had “mixed feeling”s about leaving Setra and said he would miss not being part of the company’s future.

“Börje Bengtsson has solid and documented experience in successfully leading companies with structural problems and in need of a turnaround,” said Setra chairman Håkan Ahlqvist.

“In the situation that Setra currently finds itself in, these leadership qualities are more important than a long record of experience in the sawmill industry.”

Mr Bengtsson, a Setra board member since only April, has served as CEO or deputy CEO for listed companies and operations owned by venture capital companies for the last 20 years. His most recent assignment was as an executive vice-president of Mekonomen, the 203-branch car spares business.
