The Timber Trade Federation (TTF) turned in a pre-tax profit of £247,316 in 2008, members heard at the organisation’s AGM on Wednesday.

TTF president Kevin Hayes said “all is well within the ship” after the accounts were presented to members at The Building Centre, London. In 2007, pre-tax profit was £70,172.

At the AGM, the TTF unveiled its new website, which features new and fast ways for wood buyers to search for products and services from TTF members, a forum, and “living with wood” and “building with wood” sections taken from the wood for good campaign.

TTF chief executive John White also announced the timber industry supply chain has agreed to engage ProSkills as the sector Skills Council for the industry, with the aim of accelerating the work previously undertaken by UK Woodchain. Mr White said the development would be a “game changer” for the industry in terms of training.

Other new initiatives announced include an electronic credit circle and an external consultancy service.
