Invitations to an event aimed at revitalising UK wood promotion following the demise of the wood for good company will be sent out in early July.

The September event, aimed at past supporters of wood for good and potential future partners, will discuss ways to get wood promotion up and running again. Falling income led the company to effectively stop its work several months ago, with the London offices closing and all staff leaving.

Discussions have been held by wood for good’s principal backers – Skogsindustrierna, ConFor and The Timber Trade Federation – to identify potential new supporters.

“It is clear from coverage in TTJ and in the various enquiries that have been made in recent months that there is still significant industry interest in a successful promotional initiative that will help businesses compete in the market place,” said a statement from the backers.

“Wood for good has delivered that success, and with nearly nine years of activity and experience this is a good time to refresh wood promotion and ensure that even more of partner contributions are channeled into promoting the considerable benefits of wood and supporting those who wish to use it.”

Wood for good maintains an online presence through its website, online learning and timber academy, despite the closure of the East Finchley offices.
