High levels of growth in the domestic landscaping materials market have been supported by the decking trend, according to a new market report.

AMA Research Ltd’s “Domestic Decking and Landscaping Market – UK 2004” says the sector has grown from a £572m turnover in 1997 to £845m in 2003.

Poor weather conditions during key trading periods in the past 12 months look set to subdue 2004 sales, with AMA predicting an £889m turnover. The market is estimated to be worth £993m in 2007.

Other factors helping growth include low interest rates and increased media coverage of gardening and landscaping activities, especially on television.
