Italian timber firm Alpi Group has achieved OLB (Origin and Legality of Timber) certification for its forestry operations in Cameroon.
Alpi and the Tropical Forest Trust have been working together since March 2007 under the EU-funded Timber Trade Action Plan to develop technical, management and social actions that have now been implemented in Cameroon production sites.
Managing director Vittorio Alpi said the certification would help Alpi ensure its products met import standards contained in the US Lacey Act and the EU’s Forest Law, Enforcement, Governance and Trade action plan.
The certification was achieved through Bureau Veritas Certification.
