Woodworkers that process plastics as well as timber are seen as the target audience for a new Martin feature which combines a sliding table saw with a polishing unit.

Martin’s marketing manager Michael Mühldorfer said staircase manufacturers and trade fair stand manufacturers were two potential user groups for the acrylic polishing unit on the T74 saw.

“The sliding table saw is becoming more versatile,” he said. “This can open up new doors for us and the customer.”

He said the polisher’s clamping and guidance technology gave it an advantage over a stand-alone polisher. Whole stacks of acrylic panels with an edge length up to 3000mm and depth of up to 100mm can be positioned for polishing.

Mr Mühldorfer also pointed out updated touch-screen control software which, he said, could make chamfering, rebating and grooving processes on its spindle moulders “child’s play”.
