Window specialist Ambass-A-Door and general joinery sister company Sprowston Joinery aim to move into rented premises after their Norwich factory was hit by fire.

The blaze on August 20 affected 80% of the companies’ site on the Rackheath Industrial Estate. A total of 50 firefighters and 10 appliances tackled the flames.

Managing director and owner David Lomax said a “couple of hundred thousand pounds” of stock was destroyed and 50% of production machinery.

A week after the fire he was already visiting possible temporary premises and talking to agents about renting machines to replace the lost equipment.

Recently the Ambass-A-Door and Sprowston have been “working flat out” to meet demand.
