Austrian machine company Fill is claiming a world first for its new fully-automated spot repair system for wooden boards.

The Speedfiller is designed to automatically repair knot holes, resin patches, crack and other flaws in wood boards using hot melt or PU filler materials.

The boards are scanned optically by a Baumer scanner on the Speedfiller and the data recorded optimised before being passes to the machine control unit.

Different application tools are positioned over the flaws by linear drives which fill the spots individually with the necessary amount of filler material. Machining of both sides of the board is also possible.

CEO Andreas Fill said the machine was the “perfect solution” for a cost-intensive task that has previous required a large amount of manual work by specialist personnel.

“With the Speedfiller, our customers achieve a higher yield, a more precise metering of the application volume and a saving in personnel costs,” he said.
