Brazil’s Deni Indians are celebrating the successful demarcation of 1.5 million ha of their traditional lands in the Amazon rainforest.
The landmark decision, which follows an 18-year campaign by the Deni, will directly protect the lands from logging companies and farming projects. In total, the demarcation will create an ecological corridor in the Amazon of more than 3.5 million hectares.
