A Finnish-Russian forest summit will be held in St Petersburg next Sunday.
The event, which will be opened by prime ministers Vladimir Putin and Matti Vanhanen, will cover investment and innovation, forestry and forest resources and the development of competence in the forest cluster. The summit will also be attended by key government ministers and industry executives.
Co-operation remains important to the two countries. Finland has invested heavily in Russia’s forest sector and imports a large proportion of its raw material from its neighbour.
