A door manufacturer has increased its use of Accoya modified wood to around 70% of its production.
The London Door Company, which has two showrooms in London and one in Surrey, said it had also increased guarantees on products from one to five years because of the reliability of the material, sourced from International Timber.
Managing director John Williamson said Accoya’s benefits had become apparant during trials in the company’s showrooms.
“The showrooms can become extremely hot as the sunlight shines directly through the shop front windows,” he said.
“This can cause some types of timber to fade or warp in the intense heat and light. However, Accoya wood did not suffer any adverse affects making it an ideal choice for exterior doors.”
Mr Williamson said the reduction in service calls due to Accoya’s stability has had a “significant impact” on the business, leading to cost savings.
