US timber giant Weyerhaeuser has launched a new value-added solid timber product for builders and merchants.
Inferior lumber with a greater tendency to crook, twist or bow is removed in the Pro Series Lumber quality control checks, in order to boost labour and material cost savings in the merchant’s yard and on construction sites.
The product, which carries a Green Approved rating by the National Association of Homebuilders Research Centre and is certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, is also treated with a mould inhibitor to reduce product loss rates and the risk of call-backs.
Pro Series is part of a line of value-added lumber products from Weyerhaeuser which includes iLevel Framer Series, iLevel Machine-stress-rated lumber and machine-evaluated lumber.
