The Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Out of the Closet event held last month was sponsored by Travis Perkins.

The wardrobe clearout by Elton John and David Furnish was held at the Flower Cellar in London’s Covent Garden and Travis Perkins supplied the majority of the materials needed to complete the shop fit, turning the blank space into a chic retail outlet for one week.

Travis Perkins trade marketing director Linda Doughty said: “For Travis Perkins to be associated with such a strong, instantly recognisable charity, not to mention rock royalty, is an amazing opportunity as a builders merchant. We are thrilled we could help out by supplying items from our nearest branch in St Pancras.”

More than 11,000 outfits worn by the couple were sold, raising £42,000 for the charity.
