BeA Fastening Systems Ltd has launched a new fastening robot called the Flex Fastener.
The generic robot, which features a multi-axis arm for flexibility, is the result of a partnership with flexible automation provider ABB. Its timber manufacturing applications include assembly of bed, chair and sofa frames, garden benches and gates.
A combination of fastening solutions can be used in conjunction with the robot including staples and long magazine or self reload staples, hot melt adhesives and guns, plus vertex clips and tools.
Benefits cited include decreased lead times, lower production costs, improved product quality and, by leaving the robot to take the pressure, the elimination of repetitive strain injury in the workplace.
