North East-based coffin manufacturer JC Atkinson & Son is the first in the UK to produce a range of coffins made from Forest Stewardship Council certified wood material.
The company, which makes more than 60,000 coffins each year, is switching two thirds of its production to FSC as part of its commitment to the environment.
