Woodwaste extraction facilities at the Limerick mill of Irish timber importer James McMahon have been upgraded to improve conditions on site.

Air quality was becoming an environmental hazard because of increasing woodwaste generated by a boost in business. Dust was collecting on roofs and being washed by rainfall into the drainage, causing blockages and contaminating ground water.

Dust Control Systems supplied a Nordfab Cyclopac 4Y4 circular filter/separator, which handles 110m3 per hour, to replace existing cyclones.

The filtration medium of the existing filter plant was also replaced to increase extraction volume capacity from 25,000 to 35,000cfm.

A 55kW Nordfab CombiFab main extraction fanset was installed to power the capacity increase.

Fan power already on site conveys waste from existing cyclones to the Nordfab and on to a waste baling plant.
