A 10m-long low-pressure treatment tank for treating construction timber has been installed at BSW Timber’s Boat of Garten sawmill.
The 1.5m diameter tank will help meet increased demand for the company’s Easi-Edge KD, machined and regularised C16 strength-graded timber.
The investment will allow the mill, near Aviemore, to produce 15,000m³ of treated Easi-Edge, which is supplied to the timber frame housebuilding market, as well as joists and rafters in 3-4.8m lengths.
Water-based Osmose Protim Clear Choice preservative treatment used in the treating process gives the timber a distinctive golden colour.
“This investment demonstrates our commitment to our Boat of Garten site and reflects our confidence in the future,” said Dave Mills, mill manager.
The mill produces around 70,000m³ of sawn timber annually.
