Finnforest’s impressive stand showcased a range of the company’s engineered timber solutions. “Finnforest offers a great deal more than just I-joists and Ecobuild is a good focus for our offering,” said Kevin Riley, building solutions director.

A striking curved glulam beam provided a focal point, but the company’s Leno cross-laminated timber (CLT) was much in evidence. Leno differs from other CLT systems on the market because it can be vacuum-pressed to form curved panels – the tightest radius possible is 6m – making it an attractive proposition for designers. “We’ve seen the market for Leno grow from about 2,500m³ in 2002 to about 15,000m³ today,” said Mr Riley. “Success breeds success.”

Also on show was Finnforest’s Low Energy Wall system, the Kerto-Ripa panel roofing and flooring system, which is seeing “huge interest in the UK” thanks to its potential for long spans and low U-values, and the Kerto in Leno timber and glass external wall.

“It offers both aesthetic impact and exceptional performance and the Coelan coating on the exterior provides a very long maintenance schedule,” said Mr Riley.
