A forced-aeration vessel that recycles waste wood dust is being showcased to furniture manufacturers around the country by FIRA.
The vessel speeds up the decomposition of wood dust for conversion into a commercially viable garden compost and soil.
Currently there are few alternatives to landfill for the powder residues from wood sanding and composite board processing.
FIRA is undertaking further trials to establish the economic returns and pay back periods on the vessels which, it says, are reasonably cheap to buy and require little maintenance.
