The Australian Shareholders Association has rejected a proposal to stop Gunns, which claims to be Australia’s largest fully integrated hardwood forest products company, sourcing timber in 240,000ha of Tasmanian forest.
The Forest Industries Association of Tasmania’s chief executive Terry Edwards said the move showed small shareholders supported the thousands of Tasmanians who were employed in the state’s sawmilling and veneer industries.
