Italian woodworking machinery show Technodomus, held on April 20-24 this year, is to become a biennial event following its success in Rimini at the end of April.
The exhibition, which had its inaugural show in 2009, is making plans to position itself as the leading Italian woodworking technology show when it is next held in 2012, according to Rimini Fiera chairman Lorenzo Cagnoni.
The 2010 event saw a dramatic increase in visitor numbers to 30,865 (2009: 18,156), despite air travel chaos caused by the Icelandic volcano eruption during the exhibition. Exhibitor numbers doubled to 300, from 25,000m² to 42,000m² across eight halls.
Technodomus said the number of overseas attendees (31% of total) was not decisively affected by the volcanic ash cloud.
By moving its exhibition dates closer to the existing leading woodworking show Xylexpo, Technodomus served notice of its ambitions to challenge its Milan rival. Attendance figures for Xylexpo, held on May 4-8, are not yet available.
Leading Italian woodworking machinery producers SCM, Biesse and Cefla decided to support Technodomus instead of Xylexpo. At the show, the three firms announced combined investments in innovation of more than €50m.
Biesse’s innovations included the new Rover B WMS – an entry-level window processing centre for standard and special windows and doors. It also launched a green project, with the logo Technology, which aims to reduce energy consumption of machines and use sustainable technology.
New SCM products unveiled included the Accord 40 work centre, Celaschi Team 200 profiler, Dogma CNC machinng centre for doors and windows and the DMC System sanding machines. while Masterwood presented the 4WIN, a work centre dedicated window manufacture.
Hundegger showed a new automatic cutting centre, while Cefla Finishing Group demonstrated its MITO latest generation of spray systems.
