A joinery manufacturer recently forced to close following the impact of a serious fire last year is now selling all its machinery and even the company name.
Ambass-A-Door and Sprowston Joinery did not recover from the major fire at the Norwich factory in August 2009 and experienced insurance difficulties. Damage estimated at several hundred thousand pounds had been caused by a fire started by a neighbouring property burning rubbish.
All its machinery, including a nearly-new Weinig Powermat 400 can be viewed on the Rackheath Industrial Estate, Norwich on May 18, with bids to be received by 2pm on May 20. Auctioneer Sanderson Weatherall is handling the sale, which includes the company name and customer base.
Ambass-A-Door, one of the early members of the British Woodworking Federation’s (BWF) Timber Window Accreditation scheme, told the BWF that the company’s closure was a very “sad day”, but it thanked BWF staff for their help over the years.
Ambass-A-Door managing director David Lomax said potential buyers had a chance to purchase a range of proven window designs. The auction will include he company name and customer base.
