The Ricoh Arena in Coventry has been chosen as the venue for the new Timber Expo 2011.
TRADA, which is launching the event to take its annual In Touch with Timber conference to the next level, has also named the date for the show and conference – September 27 & 28.
“There has been a very positive response to a Midlands based show from the industry,” said Rupert Scott, TRADA’s membership and marketing director.
“It’s a great venue for exhibiters to set up, with lots of car park space and ease of access.
“It was either going to be the Midlands or London. The thing with London venues is they are hard work for exhibitors to set up at. The Ricoh has the perfect set of facilities for us.”
Mr Scott said many specifiers were based in the north London area and regular trains from the nearby Euston station only took 60min to Coventry.
“And for everyone in the rest of the country, Coventry is more convenient.
Mr Scott said TRADA wanted to hear from anybody in the timber industry about the potential to link other events such as industry association meetings with Timber Expo, which is looking to attract about 100 exhibitors in its first year.
“There is a lot of interest in the event. We are delighted with the interest and currently working on floor space plans and will be selling space fairly soon now,” he added.
