Door manufacturer Hartlepool-based Bridgman IBC has bought the intellectual property rights of McTavish Ramsay.
Bridgman, which has a 100,000ft² factory, has also bought a UV coating line from McTavish, which was liquidated by receivers on July 5.
The company said buying the IP rights of McTavish Ramsay and Doors by Design would allow Bridgman to further expand its product range and increase its presence in Scotland.
Bridgman commercial manager Stewart Hind said the two brands had fire and acoustic certification. “They will probably enhance what we have got at the moment in terms of door widths, depths and vision panels.
Most staff at 146-year-old Dundee-based McTavish were made redundant when the receivers took over at the end of April.
A company voluntary agreement set up at the beginning of March had failed to save the firm, with credit difficult to acquire from suppliers, while machinery problems also had an impact. It has also suffered from poor trading.
