VIDA has acquired a minority stake in Swedish Wood marketing business Uni4 Marketing.

Uni 4, which sells timber to the North Africa and Middles East markets, is owned by SCA Timber, Holmen, Södra and Martinsons Wood.

“Our objective in acquiring an interest in Uni4 Marketing is to have access to a highly cost-effective sales organisation to the growing markets of North Africa and the Middle East,” said Vida Wood chief executive Måns Johnansson.

Uni4 said the increased spread of ownership meant the organisation could continue efforts to become a cost-effective sales channel in the logistics and distribution network in markets historically characterised by high costs.

Uni4 is expected to sell and deliver about 550,000m³ of timber products in its markets during 2010 – equivalent to a turnover of SKr1bn.
