Proskills, the timber industry Sector Skills Council (SSC), gave running presentations at W10 on training, skills development and related topics, including health and safety.
It also used the show to highlight its progress in creating a national training framework for the timber sector, advise on accessing training funding, and to urge companies to take the “Skills Pledge”, committing them to maintain and improve the skills and knowledge of their personnel.
Proskills has already made strides in developing a new training structure for the industry, said the organisation’s wood industry lead Jackie Bazeley.
“We’ve been working with a qualifications reform group drawn from the industry and are on track to have a sector qualifications strategy by the end of the year,” she said.
