Another first for many W10 visitors was seeing the Weinig and Holz-Her machinery brands side by side on the same stand.

One of its main aims at the show, said Weinig UK’s managing director Neil Forbes, was to highlight they are now part of the same group, following the acquisition of panel processing technology specialist Holz-Her in April. “We wanted to use this opportunity to present the two logos together,” he said.

In the UK, he added, the Holz-Her brand and range is rapidly becoming an integral part of Weinig, with Paul Nightingale now appointed product manager for Holz-Her, the counterpart to Michael Cuthbertson, product manager for Weinig.

“It’s still early days, with the Weinig network only recently informed they’ll be handling Holz-Her too, but the signs are good and it is a fresh start for the Holz-Her brand in the UK,” said Mr Forbes.

With some customer cross-over between Weinig solid wood technology and the Holz-Her panel products, he said, both brands should benefit from the ‘marriage’.

“We see developing Holz-Her here as a long-term build,” he said.

Reinforcing the business’s focus on the UK, Holz-Her’s export area sales manager Angelo Amico was also at W10. He highlighted, in particular, the company’s Auriga1308 edgebander which was on show on the stand. Rather than a glue roller, this uses a patented nozzle application system which is claimed to vastly improve productivity.

“This can be ready for use in just 3½ minutes from cold,” he said. “It only has to heat the volume of glue coming out of the nozzle. Over the year this can result in 100 hours more productive time.”

The glue, he added, can be stored in a granulate hopper or cartridge, with the latter enabling quick changeover of glue types and colours.
