Swedish company Holmen Timber has announced that trial operations have started at the firm’s new whitewood sawmill in Braviken.

The trial operations are scheduled to run until the end of December 2010. The timber for these test sawings will come from Holmen’s own forests in Östergötland. Alongside the testing activity, the remaining groundwork around the site is also set to be completed soon.

The mill is equipped with a combined profiler and circular saw line and feeder system supplied by Linck.

Production will begin at the sawmill in January 2011, starting off at 260,000m³ in the first year, before gradually rising to 550,000m³. The capacity of the mill is 750,000m³.

Braviken Sawmill will eventually employ a total of 110 people.
