Forestry Commission softwood sawlog prices were 28.6% higher in real terms to £119.8 during the six months to September.
The figure, contained in the latest National Statistics on Timber Prices Indices (based on Forestry Commission sales), was the first time in three years that the softwood sawlog price index had risen during the first six months of a year.
Prices are now up 14% in real terms compared with five years ago, but down by 11% over 10 years.
The statistics also show the average price for coniferous standing sales was £11.94 per m³ in the first nine months of the year.
The coniferous standing sale price index for the UK was 43.1% higher for the year to September, compared with a year ago.
