Hardwood specialist DLH Group has acquired the Swiss-based tt Timber Group, giving it direct involvement with sustainable forest management in Africa.
tt Timber, which owns Congolaise Industrielle des Bois (CIB), manages 1.4 million hectares of forest concessions in Africa and recorded sales of K1.3bn in 2005.
CIB expects its concessions in Congo to be Forest Stewardship Council certified during 2006. CIB claims the certification will create the largest contiguous FSC certified natural tropical forest in the world.
