Troubled window manufacturer Blairs Ltd has been bought out of receivership by the Performance Timber Products Group.

The Scottish manufacturer, which went into receivership earlier this month suffering cashflow problems, will continue to trade as Blairs and will be re-established at its Greenock plant with 60 jobs created.

Administrators from Ernst & Young had made 113 staff redundant – the majority of the workforce – on January 10.

Newly-appointed managing director of Blairs John Torley described the rescue as “wonderful news” for Blairs and the community of Greenock.

“With the backing of the Performance Group we can rebuild a strong business to serve both new and existing customers, and hope for our employees,” he said.
