Scotts of Thrapston’s truss division has risen above the wintry weather and the sluggish economic start to 2011 and has turned in its best monthly figures.

The family-run business, which celebrated its 90th anniversary last year, reports that January sales were 20% up on the same month in 2010.

Scott’s chairman, David Scott, puts the strong figures down to several factors. “We have become far more flexible in recent years to the demands and requirements of the customer, improving our levels of customer service and the time it takes from taking the order to delivering the trusses on site,” he said.

Scotts is also benefiting from a spread of customers, ranging from small and medium-sized building firms, through to the largest developers.

“We are seeing the benefits of investing in our people, machinery and close working relationship with our customers that operate at each end of the market, which gives Scotts depth to its client base,” he added.
