A timber frame wall solution to help meet Level 6 of the Code for Susainable Homes had its first public airing at Ecobuild.

The solution features a 50mm Isover Frame Façade slab partially filling the cavity between the frame and exterior brickwork, as well as Isover inuslation between the studs. The build-up is designed to reach a U-value as low as 0.14W/m²K.

“We’re trying to show a zero-carbon solution,” said Helen Tunicliffe, marketing manager of Saint-Gobain Isover. “The Isover slab on the exterior negates the need for breather membrane.”

Meanwhile, the University of Nottingham was hailed the winner in Saint-Gobain Isover’s architectural students design competition. Students were challenged to design a New York skyscraper to passive/Isover Multi-Comfort House standards.

The Multi-Comfort House standard is based on the passive house concept and Covers thermal efficiency, energy savings, acoustic insulation, indoor air quality, fire protection and safety.
