The UK’s first professional training and individual certification scheme for the fire door industry will be offered when the Fire Door Inspection Scheme launches in May.
The scheme, a partnership between the British Woodworking Federation CERTIFIRE Scheme and the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers, will involve an online training programme leading to a diploma in fire doors qualification.
Official certification of fire door inspectors will be possible for those wanting to take their training further.
Exova Warrington Certification is working with the Fire Door Inspection Scheme to assess and approve fire door inspectors.
“This scheme intends to address a lack of knowledge by formalising an education process and recognising people with the most relevant skills and experience,” said Stuart Young, scheme project manager.
