SCA Timber Supply is investigating the cause of a fire overnight at its Welshpool site.

Firecrews were called out to SCA at Severn Farm Industrial Estate at 3.59am after a fire started in a sideloader. Crews attended the blaze, using hose reels, until 5.30am.

SCA reported no injuries but said the fire had caused smoke damage in the factory where the vehicle was parked, including some light damage to computer equipment on the machinery.

“We are pleased to report that we are to continue operations from the site with minimal disruption and are grateful for the help received from the local fire brigade in tackling this incident,” said SCA Welshspool operations director Jonathan Bower.

“SCA Timber Supply takes safety seriously and we are investigating the cause of this incident.”

SCA acquired the site through its purchase of Severn Timber Products in 2007. The Welshpool base has planing facilities and supplies wood products to UK builders merchants.
