Large amounts of Swedish pine from the cargo ship Sinegorsk has washed onto beaches of the popular seaside resort Southwold.

A meeting between local authorities was taking place on Friday afternoon to discuss a clear-up operation, but people have reported vans turning up and taking timber away.

Much of the timber from the Sinegorsk, which shed 1,500 tonnes of sawn timber in the English Channel nearly two weeks ago, came ashore last week in the Ramsgate and Margate areas.
