Barama, the sole plywood manufacturing company in Guyana, is to resume operations in June and expects to have product ready for export in December, the International Tropical Timber Organisation reports.

Its reopening is also good news for Guyana’s domestic market which is showing strong demand from the housing sector.

The plywood factory is aiming to achieve a production rate in excess of 2,400m³ per month and will also produce veneers.
