Leading shredding, briquetting and wood size-reduction technology specialist Weima is using Ligna to launch a “new, improved” version of its mid-range shredder series, the Classic.
The unveiling of the new machine, says Weima, will form part of its celebrations of 25 years’ designing, manufacturing and supplying “robust, reliable, low maintenance shredding and briquetting technology worldwide”.
This single shaft Classic is showcased with a bigger rotor shaft for added stability, including the patented “V” rotor and stronger “K” bearings, all as standard.
Space hopper
The machine also features Weima’s now well-known “space hopper” incorporating a log spacer. It also has a more robust pusher, special ram combs and a new impulse control which is claimed to result in a greater pusher speed. Stored Programme Control (SPS) is available as a factory option, providing for fully automatic operation.
The new machine is also described as “ruggedly constructed”, designed for long service life, even in outdoor operations, while not compromising on quality.
The new range has double the number of knives of its predecessor – for instance the WL6 has 42 rather than the previous 21. The 22kW drive option can also be ordered for WL6 and WL8, including a hydrodynamic starter clutch, which helps to improve running costs.
The Classic series comes in a WL4 variant, as well as WL6 and WL8. Collectively, says Weima, the latest upgrades give “improved material feed, greater stability, reliability, economical operation and performance to price ratio”.
Weima machines are sold by Weima UK, part of the Fercell Engineering Group. At its Kent factory the company has a test facility where customers can undertake bespoke trials on their own materials.
