Wärtsilä Corporation is to supply Czech sawmiller Less & Timber with a combined heat and power plant for its Caslav sawmill.
The BioPower 5CEX plant will be powered by bark and wood chips and will generate electrical and thermal power outputs of 4.3 MWe and 10 MWth respectively. It will be Wärtsilä’s first biomass facility in the Czech Republic.
The electrical output is to be sold to the country’s national grid while the heat will be used for drying in the sawmill.
Less & Timber awarded the contract to Wärtsilä in November and the finished facility is due to be handed over in October 2009.
