The Lyptus brand of plantation grown hardwood decking has received a massive boost from its high-profile use at the Chelsea Flower Show and the subsequent appointment of Buildbase as a stockist.

Substantial quantities of Lyptus eucalyptus decking were used in the gold medal-winning Monaco Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Lyptus supplier Woodlink UK, which imports the product from Weyerhaeuser in Brazil, supplied the Lyptus to UK distributor Hoppings, after the latter’s customer Buildbase managed to secure use of the product in the garden.

Oxfordshire-based C&G Joinery completed the joinery work, which included a central deck, fascias to a cantilevered roof and the staircase in the garden.

BBC presenter Chris Beardshaw enthused about the product which he thought was “set to revolutionise decking”.

Hoppings marketing and technical director Adam Pulfer said the level of interest and number of requests for samples for Q-Deck Lytptus had increased massively and generated good sales since Chelsea.

Buildbase is now set to be unveiled as a major new stockist for the product.

“We have had a significant amount of enquiries,” said Woodlink’s Cyril Williams. “Chelsea has brought the product to the attention of our potential customers.”
