Sawblade grinding and sharpening specialist Vollmer covered the bases at Ligna with two stands to serve both the sawmilling and further downstream solid wood processing sector.

Highlights included two new grinding machines for circular saw blades, an extendable benching centre and an automated polishing process for PCD tools.

Vollmer demonstrated the universal QXD200, now offering automated polishing of PCD tips. The oscillation polishing process is set up by auto touch in a way that PCD tips are only polished directly behind the cutting edge.

Vollmer said this method reduces machining time and saves production costs.

An improved RC110 fully automatic measuring centre for bandsaw blades requires only a couple of saw blade parameters to be entered on the control panel. The levelling and tension program measures current values over the sawblade width and continually compares them with the pre-set nominal curve, resulting in improved sawblade operational time and reduced blade run-outs.
