With 3,000m² of display space spread over three halls it was hard to miss SCM’s machinery.

SCM, which was celebrating its 50th year at Ligna, boldly declared that 95% of products on the stands featured innovations, with new equipment for the joinery and furniture production sectors.

Highlights included the SCM Integra 12 automatic cell for windows, SCM Accord 30fx boring/routing machining centre for doors, windows and stairs, CMS Pro Evolution Twin machining centre for straight and arched window and door frame elements.

It was also showing off its new Play&Motion control system, which it claims is “like playing a video game” or using an iPad. Just 20cm long and weighing 750g with a 5in touchscreen, the system is designed to eliminate errors, plus ease and speed of set-up.

Play&Motion is currently available as an option on the Accord 30fx, but will soon be released for a wider range of machines.

The focus on futuristic technology was further highlighted on SCM’s “boulevard” on the main stand, where visitors could move special cards to create 3D machine representations on a screen.

The Nova range of circular saws has been updated with new controls, and a wider table features a double groove to add accessories, while the tech z2 CNC machining centre is available with a longer 5.2m bed for pendulum flexible working on doors and windows.

The Accord 40fx features the Mach 5, a new chain-style tool magazine holding up to 48 large double profile tools, with a changer shuttle for 5 second tool switches.
