China’s laminated flooring market has taken off as the standard of living rises alongside the country’s expanding economy.

Ten years ago the product was a luxury item that few could afford, but now there are around 300 laminated floor producers in the country who, last year, produced 155 million m2 of boards.

Many of the producers use European production technology, but now, to meet growing demand, they are trying to develop their own patented equipment and technology to reduce costs.

Trade missions are being organised to promote co-operation and establish business relationships with foreign counterparts, and, already, China has developed export markets, mainly to south-east Asia and the Middle East.
