The first kiln-dried sawnwood has been delivered from RusForest’s new Magistralny sawmill.

The mill, in the Irkutsk region, officially opened in June in the presence of the Mayor of the Kazachinsko-Lensky district, representatives of RusForest’s board and an international delegation of invited guests.

The first packages of kiln-dried sawnwood from the mill are now being delivered to customers.

The mill’s base capacity is 120,000-150,000m³ of kiln-dried sawnwood per year, with sawlogs sourced from RusForest’s own forest leases in the region with a total annual allowable cut of 560,000m³, which is sufficient to cover the future raw material requirements of the mill.

RusForest said some fine-tuning of production was necessary before larger scale output could start during the late autumn.

The addition of the Magistralny facility constitutes a “significant step towards achieving RusForest’s long-term production targets”, it said.
