In a bid to build an integrated global information technology function to meet current and future business needs more cost-effectively, UPM is restructuring its IT operations and organisation.

Employees in Finland, Germany, Belgium, the UK, France, the US, Austria, Canada, Italy and Russia are being consulted about the restructure which could see the loss of around 140 out of 690 jobs.

The reorganisation could also see a significant decrease in the number of IT locations as well as partial outsourcing.

The restructuring will commence immediately after the negotiations – expected to last until the beginning of December – and is due for completion by mid next year.
